We will list genetic, Nano- tech, radiation, junk foods, cloned foods and other advancement in poisoning of humankind and what we need to be aware of. We have had radiation of old meat to make it look fresher and now we will have this method done to our vegetables since all vegetables are genetic and have a shorter shelve  life  I guess further assault on our foods is the answer.
The reason behind increased disease on plants is genetic modified methods because it has showed to destroy the small intestinal lining of humans which is one line of defense to illness and immune. The plants have a built in immune system that gets destroyed by genetic modified methods thus the scientist think the solution is make the food look fresher and destroy the bugs on it. Anything that changes genes changes us anything that destroys the immune of plants destroys the immune of humans. I have seen in many clients dormant mad cow is weakening the immune and many more cases of cancer at an earlier age are coming forward needing treatment.

Does anyone care anymore and I mean the consumer????

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Health regulators have approved the use of ionizing radiation for fresh spinach and lettuce, saying the technique already approved for other foods can help control harmful bacteria and other pathogens.

The Food and Drug Administration said on Thursday the radiation treatment also would make the leafy greens last longer and give them greater "shelf-life" for retailers and consumers.

The approval comes two years after E. coli outbreaks linked to spinach and lettuce sold in grocery stores and served at various restaurants. Outbreaks of the dangerous bacteria sickened dozens of consumers and led some to be hospitalized.

In severe cases, patients developed kidney failure.

Since then, other outbreaks have affected a variety of products, most recently Salmonella contamination in hot peppers from Mexico that surfaced earlier this summer.

"In the aftermath of the recent outbreaks, FDA wanted to fast track an important tool to help industry improve the safety of fresh produce," Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) spokesman Brian Kennedy said.

But FDA spokeswoman Stephanie Kwisnek said the agency was making its decision now because it had finished reviewing all the necessary data.

Industry groups initially sought the agency's approval eight years ago to clear a wide variety of foods, including various meats and produce before amending their request to allow the agency to review certain foods first.

The FDA's review of the other foods is still ongoing.

Foods already approved for radiation treatment include meat, poultry, spices and molluscan shellfish such as oysters, mussels and clams, according to the agency.

About 76 million cases of E.coli and other types of food poisoning occur each year, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Patients stricken with a food- borne illness experience a wide variety of symptoms that can include abdominal cramps, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea.

IDEAL HABITAT

Spinach and lettuce are particularly susceptible to contaminants because their textured leaves can provide "an ideal habitat" for pests and because they are usually eaten raw, the FDA said.

The agency granted the production change in response to a request by two industry groups, the National Food Processors Association (NFPA) and The Food Irradiation Coalition.

The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), in a statement, said radiation offered another tool to help improve produce safety. The group merged with the NFPA after the petition was filed, GMA's Kennedy said.

The FDA's ruling could impact a variety of produce companies, including Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc, Chiquita Brands International Inc and privately-held Dole Food Company Inc, among others.

Despite the approval, it was not immediately clear if food manufacturers or retailers would soon begin using the technology amid concerns about costs and consumer reactions.

Radiating food, including leafy greens, does not appear to be dangerous, the FDA said in its notice.

"The overwhelming majority of studies showed no evidence of toxicity. On those few occasions when adverse effects were reported, FDA finds that those effects cannot be attributed to irradiation," it said.

Spinach and lettuce that have been irradiated will have to carry a special "radura" logo and state the product has been "treated with radiation" or "treated by irradiation," FDA's Kwisnek said.

But some consumer groups cautioned against thinking irradiation is the sole step needed to protect against contaminants in leafy greens and other produce.

Other measures still need to be adopted, including many at the farm level before foods are even processed, the Center for Science in the Public Interest said.

Farmers should be required to maintain a written food safety plan and the FDA should develop uniform standards for those plans and routinely inspect them, the nonprofit advocacy group said in a statement.

I used to be a psychic detective six years ago before I became as powerful and truthful about all events that befall mankind. Now the subject of Avian Flu:

Their are five strains that are deadly to people and 1/3 of them are in a dormant state

Most go undiagnosed and unreported
Summer 2008:
530 people in Japan have it
4900 in Vietnam have it
China has 80,000 cases or 2% of total population
Thailand with 15,000 cases
1200 in USA 1/2 are in China Town
5% are in Africa 23,000
None in Canada
470 cases in India
370 are in Malaysia

HONG KONG (Reuters) - The H9N2 bird flu strain, identified as a possible pandemic threat, could be infecting more humans than commonly thought but its mild symptoms mean it often goes undetected, a leading Hong Kong bird flu expert said.

"It's quite possible ... H9N2 is infecting humans quite a lot, much (more) than we appreciate merely because it is beyond the radar," Malik Peiris, a Hong Kong-based microbiologist, told Reuters.

"In humans, it is very mild, so most of the time it's probably not even recognized or biologically tested," said Peiris, who has co-authored several papers on the strain in recent years.

So far, only a handful of human H9N2 cases have been documented worldwide, including four children in Hong Kong in 2003 who suffered from mild fevers and coughs -- as well as a batch in China's Guangdong province, where people often live in close proximity to poultry, Peiris said.

The Hong Kong cases were only picked up by chance given the city's rigorous influenza testing regime, Peiris said.

"It's quite a silent virus, it's not highly pathogenic ... and sometimes it causes some morbidity in poultry but by and large it is just there and it's unnoticed," Peiris said of the H9N2 strain.

The strain occurs mostly in birds, although it has also affected pigs and other animals in Europe and Asia.

Most influenza experts agree that a pandemic -- a deadly global epidemic -- of some kind of flu is inevitable.

No one can predict what kind but the chief suspect is the H5N1 bird flu virus, which has infected 385 people and killed 243 of them since 2003.

However, flu experts at the University of Maryland, St. Jude's Children's Research hospital in Memphis and elsewhere recently wrote in the Public Library of Science journal PLoS ONE that the H9N2 strain posed a "significant threat for humans".

They found that just a few mutations could turn it into a virus that people catch and transmit easily.

Peiris said that while the H9N2 strain might be more transmissible, its effects would be far less devastating than a possible H5N1 pandemic.

"There are other viruses out there besides H5N1 that could be the next pandemic," Peiris said. "But I suspect (H9N2) will not be so severe in its outcome."

Peiris pointed out that the last three major pandemics vastly differed in their severity, with the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic killing an estimated 50 million people worldwide, whereas the "Hong Kong" flu in 1968 killed around one million.

There are hundreds of strains of avian influenza virus but only four -- H5N1, H7N3, H7N7, and H9N2 - are known to have caused human infections, according to the World Health Organization.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - "Dead zones" in coastal waters -- regions of ocean floor so deprived of oxygen that most marine life cannot survive -- are spreading worldwide at an alarming pace, scientists said on Thursday.

Driving the trend are nitrogen and phosphorous from chemical agricultural fertilizers that reach coastal waters after flowing off farm fields and into streams and rivers, according to the study published in the journal Science.

Nitrogen compounds from burning fossils fuels, particularly from power plants and cars, also are settling back to the ground and eventually wash into coastal waters, they said.

This decade alone, the number of coastal dead zones has risen by about a third to 405 worldwide, with clusters on the coasts of the United States and Europe. Combined, they take up an area of at least 95,000 square miles.

The biggest one measures about 30,000 square miles in the Baltic Sea, the researchers said. This is followed in size by one in the Gulf of Mexico starting at the mouth of the Mississippi River in the United States and one at the mouth of China's Yangtze River in the East China Sea.

"It's not sort of a local or regional problem, which is how it was thought of in the past," Robert Diaz of the College of William and Mary's Virginia Institute of Marine Science said in a telephone interview. "It is actually a global problem."

"Most of it is agricultural-based, but there is a lot of industrial nitrogen in there, too, if you consider electric generation industrial," added Diaz, who tracked the proliferation of the dead zones along with Rutger Rosenberg of the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.

The number of dead zones started to approximately double every 10 years starting in the 1960s, the researchers said.

There were 301 such dead zones at the end of the 1990s, 132 at the end of the 1980s, 63 at the end of the 1970s and 39 at the end of the 1960s, Diaz said.

The researchers said dead zones must be considered an important source of stress on marine ecosystems, ranking alongside over-fishing, habitat loss from human development and harmful algal blooms as global environmental problems.

Dead zones are formed when excess nutrients, mostly nitrogen and phosphorus, enter coastal waters and help fertilize blooms of algae. When these tiny plants die and sink to the sea bottom, they provide a food source for bacteria, which consume dissolved oxygen from surrounding waters.

As a result, there are large areas of sea floor with insufficient oxygen to support most marine life.

"Fish are the best at avoiding dead zones. When the oxygen starts to decline, they're smart -- they leave, they don't hang around. Crabs and shrimp are pretty good at getting away, too, as are lobsters," Diaz said.

But slower-moving creatures on the sea floor often die, including worms, clams and small crustaceans. "These are the animals that are the fundamental food base for the commercial crabs, shrimp and fish that feed on the bottom," Diaz said.

I predicted a mini Ice Age happening in about 7 months time over most of the warm areas of the world after Polar Shift February 2012. That I predicted about one year ago now it is confirmed by scientist.

Last Ice Age Happened in Less Than One Year Say Scientists

The last ice age 13,000 years ago took hold in just one year, more than ten times quicker than previously believed, scientists have warned. Rather than a gradual cooling over a decade, the ice age plunged Europe into the deep freeze, German Research Centre for Geosciences at Potsdam said.

I also predict on 8-11-08 heavy civil unrest and war will break out during the games in China that will lead to global wars.

Also in certain western Europe countries and in the US many dormant Mad Cow cases will surface 25%-28% average population. Irrational behavior, emotional outburst, spongy brain and tired feelings are already affecting many of them. ( I can clear Mad Cow dormant or not in one session) 85% fatal when surfaced and time for dormancy is only 7 months -6 years on the average.

Because of Genetic foods , cloned foods and now Nano-tech foods we will see an increase of genetic disorders (we already do) , immune disorders because of our small intestines lining area 20%-50% destroyed, we will age faster, immune and genetic illnesses will increase even further. The breakdown of genetic content of food causes the natural foods immune system to stop working thus we get a large increase of cross infections to food - like bacteria, virus, parasites, etc. Climate changes has caused some of those increases.
